Tizanidine (Zanaflex) is a muscle relaxant.

Take Tizanidine (Zanaflex) exactly as directed.

Side effects from Tizanidine (Zanaflex) can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

dizziness
dry mouth
increased muscle spasms
tingling sensation in the arms, legs, hands, and feet
unexplained flu-like symptoms
upset stomach
vomiting
yellowing of the skin or eyes

Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

Acyclovir, antiarrhythmics (eg, amiodarone, mexiletine, propafenone), cimetidine, famotidine, fluvoxamine, hormonal contraceptives (eg, birth control pills), quinolone antibiotics (eg, ciprofloxacin), ticlopidine, verapamil, or zileuton because they may increase the risk of Tizanidine (Zanaflex)'s side effects

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding

if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement

if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

if you have liver or kidney problems or prostate problems

Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Tizanidine (Zanaflex) relieves the spasms and increased muscle tone caused by medical problems such as multiple sclerosis or spinal injury.

Tizanidine (Zanaflex) medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture.

Do not drink alcohol or use medicines that may cause drowsiness.

Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Tizanidine (Zanaflex) before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
