How to use
Take Amlodipine (Norvasc) exactly as directed.
Avoid drinking grapefruit juice or eating grapefruit 1 hour before or for 2 hours after taking Amlodipine (Norvasc).
Talk to your doctor before using salt substitutes containing potassium. If your doctor prescribes a low-salt or low-sodium diet, follow these directions carefully.

Side Effects
Although side effects from Amlodipine (Norvasc) are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
decreased sexual ability
difficulty breathing or swallowing
dizziness or lightheadedness
excessive tiredness
fainting
fast heartbeat
flushing (feeling of warmth)
headache
heartburn
muscle cramps
nosebleed
rash
swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, arms, or legs
upset stomach
yellowing of the skin or eyes

Drug Interaction
Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
Vasopressin receptor antagonists (eg, conivaptan) because they may increase the risk of Amlodipine (Norvasc)'s side effects
Sildenafil because the risk of low blood pressure may be increased
This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Amlodipine (Norvasc) may interact with other medicines that you take.

Over Dose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement

Missed Dose
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Precaution
While you are using Amlodipine (Norvasc), it is important to brush and floss your teeth carefully to reduce swelling and tenderness of your gums.
Lab tests, including blood pressure checks, may be performed while you use Amlodipine (Norvasc).
