Severe blood problems have occurred in patients with HIV who are taking Retrovir .

Contact your doctor right away if dark urine, yellowing of the eyes or skin, stomach pain, unusual tiredness, muscle aches, fast breathing, drowsiness, fever, chills, or sore throat occurs.

Zidovudine (Retrovir) is an antiviral.

Take Zidovudine (Retrovir) medicine exactly as directed.

Inform your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following side effects or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent.

Amphotericin B(injection)
Antithyroid Agents
Breathing Difficulties
Chills
Convulsions
Diarrhea
Fever
Mood Changes
Muscle Tenderness/Weakness
Nausea
Skin Discoloration
Sores
Unusual Bleeding
Unusual Weakness
Weight loss

Inform your prescriber if you are allergic to any medication in any form and if you are currently taking any medication while on a course with this medicine.

Stavudine, d4T

Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

any medicine that contains zidovudine
doxorubicin
fluconazole
ganciclovir
interferon alfa
probenecid
ribavirin
stavudine
valproic acid
zalcitabine

This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Zidovudine (Retrovir) may interact with other medicines that you take.

Inform your health care professional if you :

drink alcohol or alcohol-containing beverages
suffer from anemia
have any dental/kidney/liver diseases
chemotherapy/radiation therapy recently

Zidovudine (Retrovir) may cause blood problems.

Do not double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Record the missed dose and inform your doctor about your missed dose.

Treating HIV infection when used along with other medicines.

Store at room temperature between 15-25 degrees C / 59-77 degrees F, away from light and moisture.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or you are breast feeding or think you may be pregnant.

It is best to avoid sexual contact.

Do not share needles with anyone.
