How to use
Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of Glimepiride (Amaryl) in children.
The Glimepiride (Amaryl) tablet should be taken with breakfast or the first big meal of the day. Take Glimepiride (Amaryl) exactly as directed by your health care professional.

Sideeffects
Side effects that you should report to your health care professional as soon as possible:
anxiety or nervousness
blurred vision
breathing difficulties or excessive phlegm
chills
cold sweats, increased sweating
confusion
cool, pale skin
coughing up blood
dark yellow or brown urine
difficulty concentrating
dizziness
drowsiness
excessive hunger
fast heartbeat, palpitations, chest pain
fever
seizures (convulsions)
sore throat
tremor or shakiness
unusual bleeding or bruising
unusual tiredness or weakness

Interaction
Tell your prescriber or health care professional: about all other medicines you are taking including non-prescription medicines; if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol; if you smoke; or if you use illegal drugs. These can affect the way your medicine works.

Overdose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Notes
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
if you have had a severe allergic reaction (eg, a severe rash, hives, breathing difficulties, dizziness) to any other sulfonamide medicine, such as acetazolamide, celecoxib, certain diuretics (eg, hydrochlorothiazide), glipizide, probenecid, sulfamethoxazole, valdecoxib, or zonisamide
if you have a history of stroke or liver, kidney, thyroid, heart, or blood vessel problems
if you have stomach or bowel problems (eg, stomach or bowel blockage, stomach paralysis), drink alcohol, or have had poor nutrition
if you have type 1 diabetes, very poor health, a high fever, a severe infection, severe diarrhea, or high blood acid levels, or have had a severe injury
if you have a history of certain hormonal problems (eg, adrenal or pituitary problems, syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone [SIADH]), or low blood sodium levels
if you will be having surgery

Missed Dose
Do not take double or extra doses to make up for a missed dose.

Uses
Treating type 2 diabetes in patients who cannot control blood sugar levels by diet and exercise alone.
Glimepiride (Amaryl)is used along with diet and exercise.

Storage
Store at room temperature below 30 degrees C / 86 degrees F.

Precautions
Wear a medical identification bracelet or chain to say you have diabetes, and carry a card that lists all your medications.
Do not drink alcohol while you are taking Glimepiride (Amaryl).
Follow the diet and exercise program given to you by your health care provider.
Glimepiride (Amaryl) is a sulfonylurea. It may increase the risk of death from heart disease.
Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Glimepiride (Amaryl) before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
