Fluticasone and salmeterol Advair Diskus is a combination "controller" medicine.

How to use
Advair Diskus :Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Keep the inhaler dry at all times.
Fluticasone Propionate & Salmeterol Inhalation Powder : This medication is indicated for usage of long term maintainance of asthma in patients and for maintainance treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with COPD associated with chronic bronchitis. This medication is NOT indicated for relief of acute bronchospasm.
This medication is to be used with a Novolizer Device. (This Device is available under the Asthma Section)
Advair Rotacaps: Rotacaps are to be used with the Rotahaler Device; which is available under the Asthma section.
Consult a pediatrician for the use of this medicine in children.
The inhaler contents should be used within 1 month after opening the moisture-protective foil wrap or before the expiration date, whichever comes first.

Sideeffects
If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

Interaction
Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
Beta-blockers (eg, propranolol) because the effectiveness of Advair Diskus may be decreased
HIV protease inhibitors (eg, ritonavir) because side effects of Advair Diskus may be increased
Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors (eg, entacapone), cocaine, MAOIs (eg, phenelzine), or tricyclic antidepressants (eg, amitriptyline) because the actions and side effects of these medicines may be increased
This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Advair Diskus may interact with other medicines that you take.

Overdose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Notes
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
if you are taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or tricyclic antidepressant (eg, amitriptyline) within the last 14 days
if you have heart disease, liver problems, diabetes, high blood pressure, low potassium levels, depression, recent infection, seizures, thyroid problems, an irregular or fast heartbeat, tumors on your adrenal gland, tuberculosis (TB) or a positive TB skin test, diarrhea, measles, or chickenpox, shingles
if you have a fungal, bacterial, viral, or parasitic infections; an untreated lung infection; or eye problems or a herpes eye infection
if you have had a recent vaccination

Missed Dose
Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose.

Long-term prevention and treatment of asthma and chronic lung diseases.

Storage
Keep out of the reach of children.
Store at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.

Precautions
Use Advair Diskus as directed by your doctor.
If you are using other inhalers, wait a few minutes between using Advair Diskus and other inhalers, unless directed otherwise by your doctor.
Advair Diskus will not stop an asthma attack once one has started. If you are also using another inhaler for asthma attacks, be sure to carry it with you at all times for use during an asthma attack.
Diabetes patients - Advair Diskus may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before you change the dose of your diabetes medicine.
