Description
Carbidopa (Sinemet) is an antidyskinetic combination.

How to use
Use Carbidopa (Sinemet) as directed by your doctor.
Take Carbidopa (Sinemet) by mouth on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
If you have been taking levodopa, do not start taking Sinemet until at least 12 hours after your final dose of levodopa.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Sinemet .

Side Effects
Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
back and neck muscle spasms
change in sense of taste
decreased attention span
difficulty in speaking
difficulty sleeping
difficulty walking(especially starting to walk)
dizziness
eye pain
fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
fatigue
headaches
increased shaking of the hands
increased sweating
loss of appetite
memory loss
nervousness
nightmares
unusual or uncontrolled movements of the mouth, tongue, face, head, neck, arms, and legs
upset stomach
vomiting
weakness

Over Dose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Notes
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
if you have an irregular heartbeat, heart disease, ulcer, mental or mood disorders, seizures, blood pressure problems, asthma, lung problems, liver or kidney problems, blood or hormone problems, stomach or intestinal bleeding, glaucoma, or a history of heart attack

Missed Dose
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Uses
Carbidopa (Sinemet) is used in treating symptoms associated with Parkinson disease and parkinsonism-like symptoms caused by other conditions.

Other Uses
Carbidopa (Sinemet) may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Storage
Store at room temperature between 15°-30°C / 59°-86°F. Protect from light.

Precaution
Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory. Your doctor will order certain lab tests to check your response to levodopa and carbidopa.
Do not drink alcohol or use medicines that may cause drowsiness.
Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Carbidopa (Sinemet) before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
Carbidopa (Sinemet) may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before you change the dose of your diabetes medicine.
