Drug Interaction
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to doxepin, or if you have glaucoma or problems with urination. Do not use doxepin if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within the past 14 days.

Over Dose
In case of overdose, you need to call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim is unconscious or not breathing, you need to call local emergency services at 911.

Notes
Your doctor will order certain lab tests to check your response to Doxepin (Adapin).
You should be completely aware of the effects this medicine can cause you. If you are taking Doxepin (Adapin), you may feel drowsy.
If you take alcoholic beverages, consult your doctor about their safe intake when you are taking Doxepin (Adapin). In addition, Cigarette smoking may decrease the effectiveness of this drug. So, consult your doctor in this regard.

Precaution
You have to take following precautions before taking Doxepin (Adapin)and while you are taking this drug. Inform your doctor in advance
1. If you have or ever had history of disease like glaucoma, diabetes, seizures or liver, kidney, heart disorders or you are suffering from an enlarged prostate, difficulty urinating or an overactive thyroid gland.
2. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding
If you become pregnant while taking Doxepin (Adapin), inform your doctor immediately.
3. Bipolar disorder (manic-depression)
4. Diabetes (Doxepin (Adapin) may raise or lower blood sugar)
