Description
Enoxaparin injection (Lovenox) though an anti coagulant is sometimes referred to as a blood thinner.
Belonging to a class of medicines known as Low Molecular Weight Heparins, Enoxaparin injection (Lovenox) works by stopping the formation of substances that are responsible for clotting.

How to use
Special care may be needed regarding the use of this medicine in children.

Consult your physician on how to inject yourself, or take a family member along to so they may be trained in how to do the same.
Use Enoxaparin injection (Lovenox) exactly as directed by your physician.
Do not rub the injection site after you take the shot.
Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.

Side Effects
If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.
Blood in the urine/Coughing up of blood
Breathing Difficulties
Diahearra
Fever
Heavy bleeding during menstruation
Nosebleeds
Redness/Burning/Irritation at the site of injection
Swelling of the feet/ankles
Tarry/Bloody stool
Unusual bleeding/bruising

Drug Interaction
Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.
Any herbal products that contain garlic, ginger, gingko, feverfew, horse chestnut
Any other anti coagulants
Asprin
Asprin like medicines
Blood thinners
NSAIDs
Omega 3 fatty acid supplements
Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

Over Dose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Notes
Important : Inform your doctor if you are taking any anti coagulants such as Agrylin, ReoPro,Warfarin, NSAIDs such as Pletal, Plavix, Ibuprofen, Integrelin, Aggrastat. If you have epidural or spinal anesthesia/puncture, whilst taking such a medicine as Enoxaparin, it could cause you to become paralysed. Speak with your doctor about the risks of taking this medicine. If you experience leg weakness, numbness, paralysis, tingling, and loss of control over your bladder or bowels, inform your doctor immediately.

Missed Dose
Do not double dose to make up for a missed shot. Take the next shot as scheduled. Try not to miss any shots.

Uses
Enoxaparin injection (Lovenox): is used in the treatment of existing blood clots in the lungs or veins. It is also commonly used in the prevention of blood clots after an abdominal, knee or hip surgery.

Storage
Store at room temperature below 25 degrees C.
Do not freeze.

Precaution
If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking Enoxaparin injection (Lovenox).
Inform your health care professional if you suffer from any allergies of any kind, pork and/or pork products.
If you conceive whilst on a course with Enoxaparin injection (Lovenox) inform your doctor immediately.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.
In case of any emergency carry some identification stating your condition, name of medication & health care professional & contact number for the same.

Prosthetic heart valve
Other bowel disease
Ongoing cancer treatments
Liver disease
Infection of the heart in part/whole
Inefficient kidney function
High blood pressure
Haemorrhage
Haemophilia
Diabetes
Delivery of a baby
Breast Feeding
Brain tumour/aneurysm
Bleeding disorders
