Description
Promethazine belongs to a class of drugs known as phenothiazine-derivative antihistamine.

How to use
Phenergan (promethazine) may cause breathing to slow/stop. It may also cause death in children. Consult a paediatrician for the use of this medicine in children. This medicine should not be given to infants and children under 2 years of age. This medicine should be given to children only if the paediatrician says it is necessary to do so, under strict supervision and with caution.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for dosage(s) and take as directed.

Side Effects

Chest pain
Difficulty/pain passing urine
Yellowing of the eyes/skin
Sore mouth/gums/throat
Muscle/facial twitches
Drowsiness/dizziness
Shallow breathing
Fainting spells
Blurred vision
Nightmares
Dry mouth
Headache
Skin rash
Seizures
Increased sensitivity to sun/ultraviolet light
Inability to sleep (more likely in children)
Unusual bleeding/bruising/tiredness
Agitation/nervousness/excitability
Irregular heartbeat/palpitations
Stuffy nose

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

Metoclopramide
Antidepressants
Doxercalciferol
Bromocriptine
Metrizamide
Barbiturates
Epinephrine
Levodopa
Alcohol
Oral diabetes medication
Medication for treating mental problems and/or psychotic disturbances
Medication for Parkinson's disease/gastrointestinal problems
Antihistamines used for treating allergies/cold
Alcohol containing medicines
Pain medicines (Prescription)
Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

Over Dose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Notes
Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages.
If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.
If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Missed Dose
Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult your health care professional about your missed dose.

This medicine is used to treat symptoms of allergy such as hay fever, skin allergies and various other allergies.

Storage
Store at room temperature between 59 - 77 degrees F / 15 - 25 degrees C away from heat and moisture.
